We hold to the historical teaching of Baptist people from the time of Scripture to present day. As Baptist people, we did not come from the Protestant Reformation, we came through it. Our roots of doctrine can be traced to the time of Christ and His Apostles. Named by our enemies, we have ever been prepared to suffer for our faith and the inerrancy and authority of Scripture. We do not place a higher priority on the name “baptist” than we do the doctrine that it represents. Historically, Baptist people have held to the following distinctives.
Bible is the sole authority in all faith and practise
Autonomy of every local church
Priesthood of every believer
Two ordinances (Baptism by Immersion only and the Lord’s Table)
Individual soul liberty
Saved Church membership
Two Offices (Pastor and Deacon)
Separation of Church and State
Although we firmly believe the doctrine represented above, we also recognise that other true believers are included in the Bride of Jesus Christ.
